Luxury Chinese brand company FAW called Hongqi brought four new items to road tests at once. “Chinese cars” collected all known information about the tested cars.
Hongqi Brand Key Facts
Recall that Hongqi (“Huntsy”) is one of the oldest automotive brands in China. It was launched in 1959 and for a long time was intended exclusively for representatives of the PRC party apparatus. At the moment, Hongqi is part of the FAW Group, and all Chinese citizens can buy its cars. Interestingly, the demand is really high – from January to August, sales approached the mark of 180,000 cars.
At the moment, the Hongqi model line in China is diverse and is represented by crossovers, sedans, minivans. In total, 12 different cars are available for purchase. This figure will soon increase, because Hongqi is actively testing four new products at once. Let’s get acquainted with each of them separately.
Hongqi H6 (C101) is a large sedan with a deliberately sporty design. Its exterior strongly resembles the recently launched Hongqi H5 sedan on the Chinese market. These models are really similar, because the H6 is in fact a sports version of the “five”. The front of the sedans is almost identical. Both have a signature waterfall grille and recognizable DRLs. However, the rear part is very different due to the different shape of the lantern and reflectors. Also, the H6 can be seen two exhaust pipes, located in the center.
Inside, the cars are also identical, only the H6 boasts sportier seats and black and white trim. And what will be under the hood of the “six” is still unknown. Most likely, its power plant will be identical to the Hongqi H5. Recall that this sedan has a choice of 1.5 and 2 liter internal combustion engines, as well as a traditional hybrid. The version with a 2-liter internal combustion engine is the most productive – 224 hp are available to it. and 340 Nm.
Hongqi HS6
Despite the difference in the name of just one letter, Hongqi HS6 (C206) has nothing in common with the “six” that we disassembled earlier. This is a large crossover, the body shape even reminiscent of a minivan. We would not rule out the possibility that this car will really be positioned as an MPV and made the “little brother” of the flagship Hongqi HQ9.
One way or another, we have a fairly large car with the familiar design language of the brand. Even through the camouflage, you can easily notice the abundance of chrome, swift lines and a large radiator grille. Hongqi HS6 will have at its disposal a 6- or 7-seater saloon. On the “spy” pictures you can see his salon. He received a vertical screen with a diagonal of 12.6 inches, as well as an abundance of piano lacquer.
According to Chinese sources, the HS6 will have petrol and plug-in hybrid versions. The first will get a 2-liter internal combustion engine and an 8-speed torque converter. The second will use a motor of the same capacity, but it will be paired with a powerful electric motor. On pure electricity, such an HS6 will be able to travel 85 km.
Hongqi HS3
Hongqi does not forget about smaller crossovers. At the moment, the compact crossover HS3 (C001) is undergoing road tests, the trial version of which rolled off the assembly line back in June. There is a model with a similar name in the Hongqi lineup – this is the electric E-HS3. However, the demand for it is minimal.
The petrol version of the “troika” has acquired a fresh design and seems to have grown in size. Its front end will get smooth DRLs, like the E-QM5 sedan. A single element of lanterns is installed at the rear, and strange sensors can be seen on the roof. It is possible that the autonomous driving functions of this car are currently being tested. It is expected that it will enter the series at the end of this year.
Updated Hongqi HS5
We wrote a separate text about the updated Hongqi HS5. It has become somewhat more compact and has acquired a fashionable design. Under its hood, a 2-liter 4GC20TD-35 engine with a return of 252 hp will work. and 380 Nm. According to local media speculation, the price will start at 190,000 yuan.
